At St Paul’s C of E Primary School, we aim for a high quality history curriculum which will inspire a curiosity and fascination about Britain’s past and that of the wider world for our pupils. Our teaching equips pupils with knowledge about the history of Britain and how it has influenced and been influenced by the wider world, an understanding of significant aspects of the history of the wider world like ancient civilisations and empires, exploration of changes in living memory and beyond living memory, and learning about the lives of significant people of the past.
Our curriculum also develops pupils' understanding about different methods of historical enquiry and supports them in being able to ask and answer questions with increasing complexity, ensuring that there is a focus on the development of appropriate vocabulary to express their knowledge and opinions. We want pupils to enjoy learning about history by gaining knowledge and skills not just through experiences in the classroom, but also with the use of visitors and educational visits.
